Moogfest, which held its inaugural festival to honor Bob Moog (the inventor of the Moog synthesizer who called Asheville home) announced the lineup for its second annual festival today. Headliner Flaming Lips seem to be frequenting North Carolina in 2011. Having just played Charlotte in May, the Lips will headline Hopscotch Fest in Raleigh in September and return to the Carolinas for Moogfest in October.
The rest of the exciting Moogfest lineup includes several artists that don't frequent the Carolinas (and a few that do) including Tangerine Dream, Passion Pit, Suicide, Ghostland Observatory, STS9, M83, Crystal Castles, Chromeo, Battles, Umphrey's McGee, Little Dragon and others. The three day festival will feature over 60 bands at venues such as Asheville Civic Center, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, and The Orange Peel. It will also host exhibitions, workshops, art installations, and talks.
